replaced the notorious head seal plug. Takes care of the oil leak on the fins, but we're (this is the g/f's bike i'm working on) still getting a mess all over the frame, battery cover, jeans etc. Traced the mess to the underside of the gas tank, where the oil pours out the top of the speedo cable. The rubber seal at the engine end (bottom) is still there but not the best of shape. The Suzuki dealer can't find mention of the seal in the microfiche, and suggested maybe it might come with a new cable. Duh. Not buyin' a whole cable for the sake of a little piece of rubber. Anyone know of the Suzuki part number for this seal? Previous posts to this same type of question mentioned an o-ring would fix it. Should the inside diameter fit the metal collar of the inside cable, or does it just have to fit inside the outside threaded collar that holds it in place. O-rings that i know of aren't big enough to do both. Or, are we talking about water fawcett o-rings?? I would assume it's got to fit tightly around the shaft of the inside cable to stop the oil from getting by. Pls. help. She keeps theatening to sell the bike from frustration, and i know she really does love her Savage. ;-)
